Nice move. On the very day that a consortium comprising Royal Bank of Scotland, Fortis and Santander was supposed to have met ABN Amro, not only did Barclays announce an agreed offer for the Dutch bank but it was also revealed that LaSalle, ABN's prized US retail business, would be snapped up by Bank of America .
