Emirates airline confirmed that it was seeking financial compensation from Airbus, saying it had been ?badly hurt? by a two-year delay in delivery of the superjumbo A380 plane. The airline declined to discuss figures, saying the compensation clauses in the contract to purchase 45 of the planes were confidential. ?We don?t intend to say any more,? the airline said. Airbus, which is based in Toulouse, France, said that discussions with Emirates over compensation were ?nothing new.?.

Singapore Airlines and AirAsia of Malaysia agreed to buy $8 billion worth of airplanes from Airbus and Boeing. AirAsia agreed to buy 50 A320 planes from Airbus and obtained options on 50 more.
