HSBC to sell stake in Ping An Bank

UK-based global banking giant HSBC has entered into an agreement to sell its 27% stake in Shanghai, China-based Ping An Bank to Shenzhen Commercial Bank Company. The consideration is expected to be $29.4 million, subject to a review of Ping An Bank's audited net asset value as it stood at December 31, 2006.

Sources said on Thursday that the AG Office wanted to conduct audit under the new mechanism in Karachi and Lahore by February 2007.

The telecommunications equipment maker Ericsson offered 9.8 billion crowns ($1.4 billion) for Tandberg Television of Norway, topping an earlier bid from the Arris Group. Ericsson, which is based in Stockholm, said it was bidding 106 Norwegian kroner ($17.23) for each Tandberg share. The offer is 10.4 percent above the 96 kroner offered by Arris, a communications technology company based in the United States, Ericsson said. Tandberg, which is based in Lysaker, offers a range of video and TV services over the Internet.
