Columbia University's Teachers College (TC) on Jan. 31 held formal ceremonies to inaugurate Susan H. Fuhrman as its 10th president. Dr. Fuhrman, a TC alum, is a noted education researcher who was an early analyst of the state education standards movement. She became the College's president in August 2006 and had previously served for more than a decade as dean of the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania.
